Cortexa · answers to the things people actually ask

How is the score worked out?

Not by counting correct answers. Every question carries a measured difficulty, and your score is estimated from which questions you got right rather than how many — a hard item you solved is worth more than an easy one you missed. The result screen shows a likely range as well as a single number, and tapping the range opens a full explanation of the method inside the app.

Why doesn't it show a percentile?

A percentile means "you scored higher than X% of people", and that sentence is only true if the test has been given to a representative sample of those people. Cortexa has not been, so it cannot honestly print one. Apps in this category that show you a percentile are usually showing you a decoration.

I think a question has the wrong answer

Please send it. Take a screenshot of the review screen for that question and email it — the screenshot carries everything needed to find the item. Questions with an ambiguous or a second valid answer are treated as bugs and fixed, not argued about.

Can I take the test more than once?

Yes, as often as you like. Every retake draws a fresh set and avoids questions you have recently seen, so a second attempt is a real second attempt rather than the same paper again.

Does the daily question change my score?

No, deliberately. A streak that could move your number would turn the score into a measure of how often you open the app.

How do I erase my results?

Open About from the home screen, scroll to the bottom and tap Erase all results. That clears your history, your personal best and your streak on the spot. Deleting the app does the same thing. There is no server-side copy, so there is nothing else to remove.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Cortexa has no networking code in it at all and works in aeroplane mode. Nothing you do in it is uploaded anywhere — see the privacy policy.

Is there a subscription?

No. The test, the score and the explanation for every question are all free, and there is nothing to unlock.
